Al-Sankis Continues His Sit-In for Eight Months Demanding Reinstatement After Release

The Hope Center for Human Rights and Justice has observed that citizen Mohammed Al-Sankis, who was included in the recent royal pardon, continues his open sit-in for more than eight months in front of the Ministry of Public Works building. He protests against not being reinstated to his job after spending more than ten years in prison on politically motivated cases.

Al-Sankis’s sit-in persists despite the hope brought by the royal pardon to dozens of families. However, the pardon did not include reinstating the released individuals to their jobs, prompting him to demand the return to his work and the restoration of his professional rights, as well as the regularization of the situation of all those released who were dismissed from their positions due to political convictions in past years.

The Hope Center has documented dozens of cases of citizens dismissed from both public and private sectors, who still face exclusion and marginalization, preventing their full integration into society and the achievement of social justice.

The Center emphasizes that enabling released individuals to access their civil and professional rights, foremost among them the right to work and live with dignity, represents a crucial step towards translating royal directives into reality and strengthening trust in institutions.

The Center calls on the relevant authorities to take urgent and practical steps to reintegrate all released individuals into their jobs and enable them to exercise their rights, reflecting the spirit of justice and equal citizenship.
